Crowns and Backpacks

Prince Finn delighting the masses with his drumming talent while seated on his famed Ikea throne.

Aaron and I decided to start doing the Nursery lessons for family home evening every week. Since Finn comes to the singles ward with us and doesn't get to go to nursery, we decided it was time for some age-appropriate gospel learning in his life.

Last Monday's lesson taught that we are all children of God. Part of the lesson emphasizes that Heavenly Father is the king of heaven and earth and suggests making crowns for the children to color and wear that say "I am a child of God." I knew Finn would be more into it if Aaron and I wore them too, so I made one for all of us! He loves his crown and still wears it around the house from time to time. I'm sure most of the lesson went over his head, but some parts he got really into...like the songs we sang and the part where we pointed to all the people on our picture board one-by-one (if you sent us a Christmas card, this includes you) and said they each are children of God. It was so fun!

The royal family

Later that evening, Finn caught sight of Aaron's backpack and wanted to try it on. It still dragged on the ground after we tightened the straps as much as we could, but he loved it! I love how pround of himself he is in the video, clasping his hands and eventually doing a little victory jig.

That is such a cute video. Isn't it such a fun age when they start imitating and wanting to be "so big". Also - the nursery idea is great. We have been doing the same thing for family night down here and even though it's super hard....we feel better about getting in the habit. good luck!

What an adorable picture of the 3 of you! Finn really does look quite regal! :) But wait, I don't see Aarond's crown--unless you are counting his pointy eyebrows... :)

I also love this video, how the backpack is dragging on the floor, so funny! He's so cute! I can't wait to see him again... hurry, change your minds and bring him to the wedding next month.. =)

Of course I have to watch this video every day and see Finn dance and hear him "talk." Good idea on the FHE lessons - keep up the good work!
