Kate is Home!

Kate came home from the hospital on Tuesday, July 14th! She gradually started to eat better and better until the nurses were able to remove her feeding tube. I stayed at the hospital overnight with her and she did well, so the next day we got to bring her home. She is still a difficult breast feeder, but she takes a bottle really well so right now I am pumping milk and giving her a bottle at every other feeding until she gets the hang of nursing.

Unfortunately, she still has to be hooked up to an oxygen tank as well as a machine that monitors her heart and respiratory rates. She will probably be on oxygen for at least a couple weeks, and the monitor for at least a month. This makes taking her places (even up the stairs!) a challenge but we are just so thrilled to have her home.

Finn got a present of five Hot Wheels cars from baby Kate which has helped them become instant friends. He already loves to hold her and 'hep-you' (help you...meaning me) to make the baby comfortable. We are so excited to finally be an official family of four!

I love the hospital portrait! I only wish they would have done it Dad-style and put a pen next to her, so you could see just how tiny she is! :) And the video is so great! I want to come down and visit, but Brody has picked up a little cold, so we'll wait until he is lookin' better for Kate's sake. Hurray to have her home!

Oh my she is such a sweet little cutie. I am so happy that she is able to be home, and that things are going good. That is such a cute idea to have your new baby give a present to Finn. You are such a good mom. Let me know if there is anything I can do. For reals. I want to come visit. I wasn't able to work my schedule out to come earlier with Natalie. I'll figure something out with you later.
